VU Rebirth?

Space Funk played at VU last Saturday
As you may know, in the past, VU, the performers, and party goers have
suffered through incompetence of the stage management. The situation
became quite bad eventually resulting in a reputation of “all the gear
but no idea” at the venue.
I am pleased to report a personnel change.
Jeff Hsu seems to running the sound, and promoting events there now.
With Jeff, you couldn't wish to meet a nicer musician and promoter.
As a musician Jeff understands more of what is required both on and off
the stage. Last Saturday, 4 bands plus DJs were staged and
sound-checked with a minimum of fuss.
Jeff has employed a couple of young guys, with sufficient know-how and
minimum of fuss, to help bands set up their equipment and cater to all
of the bands' sound issues. The guy behind the desk was also unusually
helpful. In short, it was a pleasure.
They even had the consideration to name cocktails after all of the
performers - definitely a first, and a nice touch! (Just hope the Space
Funk was strong enough.)
Glossy posters and active promo online put the word out.
VU needs to work hard to repair their reputation but should be given a
chance to do so. Having always had a good stage and sound, perhaps with
the right people in place, VU could be beneficial for us all.
