Designer Drugs in My Body (用普通話)

Waakao caught up with one half of Designer Drugs to ask a few questions about music, Taiwan, and Tyra Banks.

You've
been recording music for a while now, how has the experience been? How has your
style changed since you started?
The experience has
been great. I think our style has changed slowly. At first the goal was to just
finish a song. Next the goal was to make a song people could enjoy. Now the
goal is to make a song our audience can enjoy and also we can enjoy. We try to put
the listener first.
In
an interview that you said your main influence was the Tyra Banks Show. Now
that she is going off the air, how will you be able to make music?
AH! we were being facetious! As long as we can watch Jerry Springer reruns starring Justin Pearson we can find our reality relevant enough to be inspired.
We
live in times that are changing for the music industry. Where do see music
going in the next few years? What about the industry as a whole?
I think great musicians will always be successful in one way or another but I think the creatively dynamic minded individuals will succeed but I guess that's how it's always been???
Is
this your first Asian tour? What are you expecting from it, especially in
Taiwan?
We have been to Korea
twice but nowhere else in Asia. We have NO IDEA what to expect. I'm extremely
excited and have a feeling from some people online (from Taiwan) that it's
going to be nuts!
Who
are some of the artists that are doing things you like right now?
The Jesus and Mary
Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Madonna, Julian Casablancas, S4lem, etc etc
What
is your favorite track that you have ever made? Why?
Thats a tough question. I think we have a few favorite tracks but they are on the album we are finishing right now. We had tons of songs to choose from but we only picked the cool songs we like and there are some that I think are really cool and innovative and have a great aesthetic but still are pop enough and entertaining ... you will all hear it soon!
